Sunday, June 21,2026,candidates across India showed up for NEET-UG re-exam under tight security . National Testing Agency (NTA) rolled out strict measures — thorough frisking,admit card and ID checks at venues.
Entry opened 11 a.m.,shut 1:30 p.m . No latecomers allowed. Candidates had to bring admit cards,photo IDs,two passport photos. NTA warned against banned items,advised staying hydrated given possible traffic jams.
Re-exam, slated for 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., adds 15 extra minutes over earlier tests. Original exam on May 3 got scrapped due to a question paper leak probe . NTA now runs test at 5,440 centers across 551 Indian cities,14 abroad, in English and 12 Indian languages.
Security beefed up. Over 95,000 exam rooms with CCTV,138,560 cameras monitored nationally,state,ministry levels. 51,311 jammers deployed to block electronic cheating.
Students had mixed reactions to the security boost . Kishan, candidate in Delhi,noticed tighter measures. "Security's tighter this time. A lot happened last month. Revised all I could,just want to write exam. Hope it's fair," he said.
Sonia, also in Delhi,felt more stressed than before. Liked new amenities — drinking water,coolers — missing last time. "If security was like this before, paper leak chances would’ve been lower,less trouble for us," she remarked .
Odisha's Parthasarathi Raut determined to ace re-test,get into med school. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urged candidates to stay calm,confident. At yoga event in Delhi University for International Yoga Day, he voiced trust in NTA, state,district officials, education community.
