Delcy Rodriguez, recently sworn in as Venezuela's president,is off to India for five days. She's aiming to boost cooperation on energy, commerce, and technology. The trip is set for June 3 to June 7,a spokesperson from the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed.
Rodriguez's visit comes as she takes the reins during a turbulent political period, following the U.S. detaining former President Nicolas Maduro earlier this year. While in India, she plans to sit down with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for discussions on strengthening ties.
She's bringing along a varied group of ministers, including those handling foreign affairs, economic policy, scientific research, information communication, and transportation. Venezuela wants to deepen its relationship with India across multiple fronts.
The talks signal an effort to forge partnerships that benefit both countries, particularly as they deal with changes in global trade and energy markets. For Venezuela, a closer bond with India could help tackle its ongoing political and economic struggles.
