The daughter of a Melbourne-based teacher is urgently seeking assistance from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann after her father went missing in Amritsar. Sunil Sharma, 66, an Australian citizen of Indian origin,has not been heard from since May 22,when he traveled to India to oversee the sale of a property.
In a heartfelt video message, Surbhi Sharma expressed her distress,stating, “I seek help to bring back my father. We have no whereabouts for him yet. His phone is switched off.” She described her father as a dedicated mathematics teacher who cherished his Punjabi roots, even investing in property in the region.
Sunil traveled to Amritsar for renovations on the property. She noted that her uncle, Sunny Sharma, is now a prime suspect in the case . Sunny and his family have also gone missing,raising further concerns about Sunil's disappearance. The Amritsar police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) for kidnapping in connection with the case.
Police officials have indicated that Sunny Sharma is currently evading authorities. Shamsher Singh,the station house officer at Kambo Police Station, confirmed that the investigation is progressing. “He is absconding along with his family. We will soon nab him,” Singh stated. He also mentioned that Sunny is wanted in separate case involving Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,filed by the Himachal Pradesh Police.
