As Egypt gears up for a crucial World Cup Group G clash with New Zealand, coach Hossam Hassan has shot down any talk of tension involving star Mohamed Salah. Speaking Sunday,Hassan stressed team is united, focused on clinching their first-ever World Cup win.
“Salah is a key player for us,and all 26 players here are crucial,” Hassan said. He assured fans there's no internal strife, stating,“Every player knows I handle them professionally . No favorites here.”
Salah,34,has been central for Egypt, scoring nine during qualifiers and assisting in the 1-1 opener against Belgium. Subbed out in the 76th minute,he made way for rising star Hamza Abdelkarim.
New Zealand also hunts its first World Cup victory after 2-2 draw with Iran. Both teams need this win to boost chances of reaching the knockout stage.
Hassan praised Salah's professionalism, calling him role model . “Whether he starts or gets subbed, it’s part of his role,” he said. “If he starts … or if subbed, it’s fine . It’s his role as a player.”
Amid rumors,Hassan insisted Salah's committed to the team. “He trains with us. He's first to back my decisions,” he said, confident in Salah's mindset ahead of the match.
Egypt,in its fourth World Cup,aims to shine and represent Africa proudly. “We want to show something positive,” Hassan said . “This is our ambition for tomorrow. For Egyptian and African football.”
With both teams desperate for points,BC Place in Vancouver should be buzzing as they chase that elusive first win…
