After overcoming tough challenges,S.S. Jenifer,30,has hit a major milestone by passing TNPSC Group I exam this year. Her journey began after the tragic Kumbakonam school fire in 2004 and led to an emotional meeting with her role model, Dr . J. Radhakrishnan,at Tangedco head office Thursday.
Dr. Radhakrishnan,Collector during the fire, was crucial to Jenifer's early education. He got her into school without fees, provided books and uniforms. This support pushed her toward becoming an IAS officer . "Once I met Dr . Radhakrishnan after fire tragedy, I decided to become an IAS officer," Jenifer recalled. "Having achieved this milestone 22 years later, I can truly appreciate the impact of his decisions."
Though she faces a long road—eligible for IAS recruitment in 13 years—Jenifer's committed to her goal. She'll keep prepping for UPSC civil services exam, aiming to take it next year. For now, she'll serve as Assistant Director in Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.

The Kumbakonam school fire, which took 94 children, left a lasting impact on Tamil Nadu and him, as he saw aftermath soon after taking office.
