Big move for Musi River — Telangana government just gave the green light to start its flagship project. This plan,expected to revamp the riverfront,got the go-ahead from the Ministry of Defence .
Telangana's leader took to X to thank the Defence Ministry and Indian Army for their support . He said this approval is key for the state's goal to boost Musi Riverfront,aiming to turn it into lively ecological and cultural hub. "The support from the Ministry of Defence and Indian Army is deeply appreciated," he said .
Musi Riverfront Development Corporation (MDRC) now has the green light to kick off work at Bapu Ghat. This bold plan uses 83.814 acres of land under Defence Ministry control,especially at Artillery Centre Golconda. Land's valued at ₹533.42 crore,with development tied to creating Equal Value Infrastructure (EVI) for military.
Part of broader effort to restore Musi River's ecological health,project aims to make Bapu Ghat a landmark echoing Mahatma Gandhi's values,blending education,culture,spirituality,environment .
Chief Minister has discussed this project with national authorities,highlighting its historical weight. He noted Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed at Esa and Musi rivers' confluence in February 1948,giving site deep national significance. He also invited Defence Minister to foundation stone ceremony.
He also proposed transferring another 98.20 acres of defence land to bolster project development. This request shows state's commitment to creating major public asset honoring Gandhi's legacy while enhancing environment.
