Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy urged Tamil Nadu government,its citizens to back land acquisition for key mineral mining projects . Press conference in Chennai,Sunday. His comments followed questions on Neyveli Lignite Corporation’s (NLC) moves in Cuddalore district.

Reddy stressed need for cooperation from both former DMK regime and current TVK leadership. “I hope they extend their cooperation,” he said,calling on Tamil Nadu people to support land acquisition for these critical projects.

The minister detailed financial gains for state from mining. Revenue will come from premiums,royalties,contributions to District Mineral Foundation (DMF),and other cess payments. “Even other than that,DMF and CSR activity will benefit affected areas,” Reddy added,underscoring wider impact on local communities.

Asked about possible NLC project expansion,Reddy called it routine. He also tackled allegations by Congress MP Vishnu Prasad,saying he consulted local officials . “If there is anything small [issue],it is being rectified . It is a continuous process,” he said,pointing to ongoing efforts for transparency .
