Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has secured commitments from Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to support state's ambitions for energy self-sufficiency and urban development. During a meeting late Sunday at Khattar's official residence, Sarma emphasized importance of collaboration between the state and central governments to enhance Assam's infrastructure .
Khattar,who oversees the ministries of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs,assured Sarma that urbanization initiatives would be prioritized. The discussions aimed to create a roadmap for strengthening Assam’s energy sector,a key component of the state's development strategy. Sarma expressed gratitude for Khattar's engagement,noting that senior officials were present to assist in planning the future of Assam's energy landscape.
“On a Sunday night past 10 pm, he was kind enough to ensure that senior officials of his department were there to help us plan a successful road map to achieve Assam’s energy self-sufficiency,” Sarma shared on social media .
In addition to energy discussions, Sarma met with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to address the need for improved sports infrastructure and worker welfare in Assam. The meeting, which lasted over an hour,took place on Mandaviya's birthday. Sarma took the opportunity to extend his best wishes and discuss the potential for Assam to become a leading sports destination in India .
Highlighting BJP's guiding philosophy of 'Sewa First', Sarma expressed appreciation for Mandaviya's willingness to engage on these critical issues. He stated, “I wished him the very best on this special day and requested him to continue his support in our endeavour to build Assam as a Sports Hub of India.”
Finally,Sarma also sought guidance from Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda regarding health initiatives,aiming to transform Assam into a major healthcare and medical tourism hub.
